Office Depot LEED Prototype

Polaris Consulting Engineers worked with Office Depot, their national architect and Global Accounts vendors to develop a new 20,000 square foot prototype store design for a national rollout program. The documents were of the first of their kind to be registered with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) under the LEED Volume Certification Pilot Program.

The LEED design credits implemented included:
• Optimize Energy Performance
• Outdoor Air Delivery Monitoring
• Lighting and Thermal Comfort
• Daylight and Views
• Water Use Reduction

As part of the design process, Polaris implemented a modular wiring system and a plug-and-play system for store fixture/display power, resulting in significant energy savings, reduced construction costs, faster construction and greater flexibility for future store fixture changes.
